Crystal Vessel standing on 3 frosted fish legs ID help?
What a strange one this is. No marks that I can see and my wife and I have been over it many, many times. We thought French made but not sure. It is about 10" tall the Bowl is tubular shaped with a semi rough pontil scar on bottom. Looks to be crystal. The 3 fish as u see are frosted and looks and feels well done. And look at what Lisa and I call the “Eye” the top rim of the bowl inside the frosted rim. Also the camera was straight when I took the pics, the Vessel is off tilt to one side. The frosted fish are about 4” long and are applied by heat to the bowl. One fish is much higher up the bowl so it tilts. So what do you all think? A strange one to be sure?
Thank you all,
Tim

The vase shape itself is not out of the ordinary, and to my mind it doesn't really 'go' with the fish stylistically.   I've never seen anything like it.

Thanks for the feedback. Lustrousstone you had commented on a Bohemian Perfume Bottle that had some strange things going on with the  Made In Czecho-Slovakia mark being stamped over by “Germany” So I thank you again for looking at this weird piece. Max, have you seen that “eye” looking thing on Vase {if that’s what it was made for} before? I look at the fish and what I see is a well-made item. If you look at the top photo you can see the back of the fish, its not a solid piece of glass like a paperweight would be, you can see the back is concaved and follows the lines of the front of the fish and is frosted on both sides. I didn’t want to poison the well with my own thoughts but I thought when I first saw the item that the fish were lalique. O even check and yes lalique makes a 4” frostfish that is sold as one item Looks just like these do. So let me through this out there. What about a studio Artist? Here in Northern Calif. we have some great ones. Have you heard of Hawke glass, She is wonderful with sandblast work. And just north of me is Orient & Flume Art Glass, not that this piece is their work. I know its not, but so many art glass Studios shops popping up.
Any thing else someone might need me to do to add to this please let me know.
Its not the money I’m out on the item, I only paid  99 cents US. Its just so wonderfully strange. I’m sure I will be taking this to a shop to have it evened out to sit straight . Thanks for all your help.
Tim

I would say that the eye motif is to do with Freemasonry.  I can't think what else that would be for.  Maybe this vase was made as some kind of Masonic gift.

Max, I took your thought about Freemasonry as well as the feedback about the Body not being out of the ordinary but not going with the fish legs. You may be onto something. The eye could be the Masons "all seeing eye" and the fish is the sign for Christ. Not sure where the crystal fits in or what they may have used such a unique Vessel for but still looking, If any others have any thoughts would love to hear them. Thanks so much, I do love this group of helpful people from around this crazy world of ours. :ghug:
