Glass Ashtray - for those Silver Ashtray Stands
« on: February 19, 2009, 08:31:28 AM »
Hi, I have a few of these.  You usually see these in those metal standing upright stands, in which I have.  I am assuming this one was made by Dominion glass (by the *D*) on it.  It looks black, but I guess is a dark brown.  I know that some of the Ashtray stands command good $$ but are these collectible in their own right?  Glass is still Glass!  Is there any way to date these?  Anyone else as silly as ME  :spls2: to collect these (and the stands).

I accumulated about two dozen of the wood and metal floor ashtrays. When combining households a couple of years ago, we kept a couple, sold some at yard sales and forced our grown children to take the rest. Most had amber or clear glass ashtrays.

There is not much demand for ashtrays anymore so the value, even by well known makers, is low.

Is this allowed? Isn't there child protection laws? This abuse must be stopped.  ;D ;D
