Topic: Can this be Seguso?

Hi All, Have seen a very similar vase to this in the Millers collecting the 50s and I just wondered if anyone would be able to give me any more info on it. It is just over 8 inches tall. Thanks, Sue.

http://www.mandruzzato.ve.it/ is a large producer of pulled and panel cut somerso pieces - not sure if he is also responsible for your double somerso piece.

The Mandruzzatos have been around since 1956 and have been making making similar products for more than 40 years. But there are others, of course, in the same line of work, both on and off Murano. Normally their products are referred to as "generic Murano". I realise you'd really like a big name for your vase - but unless you find an identical one published somewhere you may have to settle for the less attractive "generic" attribute.

I have a similar vase and I saw its twin recently with a "Genuine Venetian Glass" label, the oval scalloped one. So I'm regarding mine as generic Murano. How heavy is your piece? Mine weighs a ton.

I think this not a Seguso(vetri d' Arte) but a vase of Archimede Seguso

If you ever go to Venice, there is a wonderful Seguso store in Piaza San Marko and you will see similar pieces! From my experience is a typical Seguso. Archimede Seguso.

Do you have a reference for the Archimede Seguso attribution? I'd love the vase I have like this to be a Seguso, but I don't think it is. I've seen many makers with vases very similar to this, Oball, Mandruzzatto, for example. What would distinguish a Seguso vase?

Sue, in your first post you mentioned a vase in a Miller book that I don't have. What was the attribution there and was the vase exactly like this one?
