Fire grenade
« on: March 15, 2009, 05:16:21 PM »
These have been mentioned previously here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,1322.0.html but can anyone tell me who made this one, and how to tell if it is a reproduction or not.
TIA ;)

How bizarre!  I've never heard of fire grenades before, and came across another one today (pictured with the first one).  This one is much larger and has impressed letters EF-VCP.  They were a bit difficult to photograph, but as can be seen on the label, the top of the letter V extends across the letters CP.  Does anyone know who or what these letters represent please?
TIA  ;)

Fire grenades are normally made from very light (often embossed) glass, filled with water and sealed. The one in the second picture with the long neck that looks like a bottle - is most probably a Chianti bottle which lost its basket. Check the contents - if it is 1/4 L or 1/2 L it's a bottle. The other item does not look like a grenade to me - but it conceivably might be....
