Topic: Etched Candlewick Stemware

Etched Candlewick? Stemware Can't find anything on these in my books. Are they candlewick? What Pattern/circa?
Anyone have a clue? I sure would appreciate it!

Ah, an easy one. I'll go first. Anchor Hocking 'Berwick' (known as 'Boopie' to collectors). Not to be confused with AH's similar patterns 'Burple' or 'Bubble'.

The cut pattern is unusual in this pattern. (Someone correct me - it is cut, not engraved or etched?)

If I could lay my hands on my Gene Florence, I might be able to come up with colour range (I know of three: Royal Ruby, an amber colour and flint, but I believe NOT the forest green) and sizes. I think yours is a water goblet? Anyway, have a google and see what you can find out.

Hi! I originally thought Berwick myself. However the pictures of berwick I see the ribs at the base are in a swirl design. Whereas the ribs on mine are vertical. I can tell by the look of these that they are very old. No repro's. I got something about anchor hocking making an Early American Line, which later people started calling boopie. I am really thrown off by the cut or etching. That's why I bought these. They seemed so odd. I am going to keep googling...........Thanks for your input

No, they are definitely AH 'Berwick' or 'Boopie'. See this link here http://www.pixclix.com/DLilly/index/ah3bs.html. The top stem is Burple, but if you scroll down you'll see the second pictured stem, 'Boopie', matches yours.

The etching might have been someone other than Anchor Hocking.

Hi! Yes, I found that too on google yesterday. In fact I found several that are cut by ah. Here's the mystery now. I checked out replacements too. All the cutting on these by ancor hocking have circles and three bands top and bottom. Mine have oval's with the same banding. Does anyone have a good link to boopie glass? So I might find the pattern? TIA  :thup:
