Ball shaped vase
« on: May 02, 2009, 08:19:09 PM »
Hi
I found this vase under some junk in a box at a car boot. I only paid a couple of pounds for it but didn't see how nice it was until I washed all the muck off it. Its 7 inches tall and a lovely smoky grey colour. Its nicer than the photos show and is covered in little lens type windows. You can see all the other lens' reflected in each other. It looks quite lovely in the sun. Is it just me or is very difficult to photograph glass so that it looks like it really does. Would it be moulded and then the top cut and polished. Any info would be helpful . Thankyou. Cheryl.

Borske Sklo, Czechoslovakia, late 1960s, early 1970s. Blow moulded and then the top was ground and polished

This is absolutely sure Borské sklo, pattern  55184/????, but not 60ties but 1958 (published in CGR in 1959). Surely it has been produced for more years but 70ties is totaly out.
