« on: May 12, 2009, 07:46:16 PM »
hi, i have this jug measuring 9.5" high.it has a very small spout at the top similar to the bird range by iittala but this doesn't feel the quality of iittala.
any ideas?

The design is similar to a martini jug designed by Per Lütken for Holmegaard in 1957, but the weight and shape of the handle isn't quite right and the pouring spout appears a little too small - but such things I suppose are quite variable, although I've had two of these myself and the handle shape has exactly conformed to the catalogue design with that thicker bottom and sharp crook at the top before it attaches to the body of the jug.

Unfortunately the catalogue page doesn't give sizes, just capacties. I've only ever owned the largest of the jugs - 1.5ltr, which were 320mm tall with a base diameter of 110mm.

If yours is Holmegaard, it will likely be the 3/4ltr model.

The colour description sounds good for Holmegaard's 'Smoke'.

I decided not to do Hemswell last weekend having had a couple of drab visits in a row. You probably would have found me wrestling the Holmegaard jugs from you otherwise.  ;D
