Trailed olive green bowl I/D help please
« on: May 14, 2009, 04:10:28 PM »
Hi Folks,
I picked this bowl up the other day but know nothing about it, can anyone help with its I/D. It has similar trailed decoration to Stuart or Harrach pieces, the foot seems to be applied to the bowl section which has a fair amount of wear to the high spot around the base and a finely polished pontil.
It has a diameter of 6 3/4" and stands just over 3 3/4" tall. Any ideas or thoughts on a maker or age would be great. Thanks Pwayne

Thanks for that John, i was hoping it might be Stuart. I was aware of the green on clear, green and blue green on clear, amethyst on clear and brown on clear (not seen) but this olive green was unknown to me. Anyone else have any ideas or conformation. Cheers Wayne.
P.S. I did pick up a green on vaseline glass at the last glass fair which i had never seen before.

I've been looking at various versions of these and one thing I came across in Charles Hajdamach's 20th Century British Glass was the comment regarding Stevens and Williams peacock trails and shamrock trails, that followed 'Other versions with names including 'Clevio' and 'Medieval' consisted of large dabs of glass with elongated trails.
I don't know if your vase is either of these patterns or definitely or not Stevens and Williams, however I thought the descriptor could fit.

Just cross referencing this thread as the applied foot and the base photograph reminded me of your bowl.
I'm not sure if they are the same colour or not.
