Vase needs ID Metelak .. Zwiesel maybe.
« on: May 27, 2009, 06:38:53 PM »
Hello, can anyone help with this.. it was sold as Murano I bought hoping it was Czech but now I'm not so sure..
its very similar to Metelaks designs but the bubbles don't seem as large and contain no mica, also someone has
mentioned it could be a Schott Zwiesel vase. Does anyone have any ideas.
The vase is 247mm high and weighs 2480 grams. Thanks Paul.

Looks like it to me. Mark says the ones on P 54 came with bubbles as well.

With the maximum respect and admiration to Mark's book I am not for the moment able to confirm the attribution.
I agree with Christine - it looks very simmilar to Metelak's pieces but  until I will find proof...

I have all unsolved pictures in database, I am sorting CGR examples and other Czechoslovak glass catalogues systematicaly. As soon as I will find the pattern I will inform you Paul and all GMB friends as well. I have discovered that attribution based on "feeling" very often fails. In same time simmilar pieces had been developed in few different factories and countries.

The (relatively) evenly spaced and uniform sized bubbles are wrong for Schott-Zweisel.
