Norman, what is the size of your bowl? The one shown on page 95 is large (about 9.5 inches), I think I have seen them in larger sizes too.

John.

What a fantastic bowl you sold there Michelle, the bowls in this design that I have handled were made with surprisingly thin glass (to me anyway). Norman, is the glass in your bowl quite thin? It certainly has the right look, the pattern on yours does not look as compact or tight as the larger examples though.

I know what you mean about the tough 'feel'. I think I remember them making a 'dull' tone when tapped. I wonder if the production process or the composition of the glass for these bowls was 'non standard' to give the finished article more strength?

I would have worried about sending such a large one to Australia like Michelle did, respect.

Norman, there is a possibility that your bowl is Spanish.
I have just returned from an auction where I saw a large version of your bowl (probably about 24 inches or 60 cm in diameter) with an applied foot all in reddy orange glass with a pattern just like yours. There was a sticker on the base which read "Decorative glass - carefully clean by hand - made in Spain". The glass was quite thick (unlike the others I have handled) and the bowl was very heavy.
I did not have my camera with me, not sure what the auction house would have thought of me snapping photos if I did have it though.

John.
