[PD] Very nice crystal wine glasses on ebay. Maker?
« on: June 14, 2009, 11:11:22 PM »
Hi All
Can anyone identify these glasses currently listed on ebay please? The bidding started a nanosecond after they listed.

[URL removed ]

Given the ad will disappear, they are described as 188mm tall hock or wine glasses with a prism stem ending in a ball and foot. Very pretty.

ta muchly

ooohhhh ive got a set of 6 of these hock glasses, no markings or labels. The colouring of the crystal, quality and everything scream Waterford crystal to me. I would be very interested to see what these sell for and if anybody knows the maker
all the best

Michelle, do you have pics of yours that can be added to this topic please? Otherwise the topic, which was originally about a finished auction, will be marked for deletion as without pics it's not very useful.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

sorry to but in..........hope you don't all mind, but in view of other chats on Waterford elsewhere........may I ask, is all Waterford marked, or like some other factories, is there a percentage of their production which is sold unmarked??

Hi Paul,
I cant give you all the answers I am afraid but I can tell you with 100% certainty that not all Waterford is marked. I dont know the full details if its just seconds not maked, some seconds not maked, all seconds not marked. They may even do some first quality stuff and not mark.
I have a few pieces that I would assume to be second quality that have not been maked, wine glasses where the foot is quite obviously not round and a couple with marks inside the glass.

thanks Michelle :)...........assume you know these unmarked pieces are Waterford, because they match the catalogue patterns I take it??     Sorry to ask an obvious question  -  it's just that you don't explain.

sorry yes should have gone into that a bit more really shouldnt I.
I bought a set of 8 Lismore pattern wine glasses, 3 of which had no mark on Ive also had Sheila pattern which has not been marked again 100% sure they where Waterford.
I have also had some the Marquis range which is not signed, I had 2 christmas ornaments (children on a rocking sleigh (see link). The one on the right was marked Waterford Marquis, the one on the left no mark at all

Is the Waterford Marquis range not the one outsourced to Poland? It includes brightly coloured Studio style pieces as well as the cut stuff. They normally have a sticky label on -  a seahorse thing in gold on a green background.
I only know this, because there's a wee shop in Michael's home town which sells Waterford, and I did a bit of investigating of various Irish makes of cut crystal mushroom lamps - I needed one as a present.
