Topic: can anyone identify this blue overlaid cut glass vase

You've all been so helpful. I'm wondering if anyone can help to identify this beautiful old cut glass vase?

It stands 9 inches.

That looks like generic Bohemian work, possibly Egermann or Bohemia, and possibly quite recent.

Thanks for your help but this is most definitely not a recent vase.

It belonged to my mum, she had it for many years, possibly decades, she died in 2002. Thanks very much for your effort anyway.

decades is recent, Tina. The seventies are nearly 40 years behind us....

Part of the problem is Tina, is that patterns like this have been made for decades with and without blue or red (or any other colour) flashing. Some cut glass seems to be stuck in a 20th century time warp, the same old patterns for 50 or 60 years.

Ivo is true as usual, this vase is Czechoslovakian, but not Egermann
(I must repeat again that Egermann factory in post war Czechoslovakia did not exist at all, Egermann s.r. o. was Czech privatised company after 1991, please do not change the name of trade mark for the name of factory).

This vase had been fabricated in Bohemia n.p. - Světlá nad Sázavou works in 70ties or 80ties.

Oh! Sorry, it seems we have a different perception of recent....or maybe a different view of time?  

I remember the 70's well (sometimes better than yesterday!) but to me those memories feel a lifetime away.

I honestly don't recall when this vase appeared, but I thought of someone this morning who may remember .

This pattern is modification of pattern called PK 500 introduced by Ladislav Prostředník in 1929. It becames very popular in Czechoslovakian cut glass production and in modifications is in this same style fabricated up to now. You will find it everywhere in Czech republic in shops with "Bohemian Crystal" (these shops nowadays are mostly in hands of Russians). You must not be an expert to distinguish original cut glass from 50ties made in Sobotka or Nižbor, from the cut glass fabricated in Bohemia n.p. from 60ties up the the last year. Old hand cut is much more rich.

Coloured glass overlay cut to clear, however, focus us to 70ties and 80ties.

Thanks for that, both of you.  The 60's to 80's was my thinking too, more likely the latter as I lived abroad early 80's. I wouldn't remember it if she acquired it then and it's such a striking vase that I am puzzled that I don't remember it.

My glass comes by way of charity shops and boot fairs.......mum shopped in Harrods.
