Hello
This is the ring tray from a bigger dressing table set that is designed with birds/doves.There are candleholders that have a pair of doves back to back, large tray with a bird scene cut into it and the pots with little birds sitting on top.
Dont actually know the maker but I have seen this sets from time to time at fairs and on ebay.
Hope this helps a little Nige

Yup, as Nigel says, this is another maker unknown as yet. Pamela has examples of the larger tray and candlesticks here:

One day we'll find the maker for it! ;)

Pressed Glass with birds - help please
« Reply #3 on: February 28, 2011, 09:41:05 AM »
Hello all and thanks so much to everyone that helps and I wondered if anyone knows the origins of this pressed glass pot.  It is really lovely quality and must have been a very intricate thing to make.  I ahve lots of details on English trinket sets and cannot find it anywhere so have assumed it is probably German or Bohemian but would love to know if anyone actually knows the maker?

Thanks again

Markus

Hi there
I am pretty sure this is made by Libochovice. It is part of a dressing table set.I have seen the birds on vases too which were definately Libochovice as I have seen them in the catalogues of the time.
Best wishes Nige

Nige, can you give me a timescale for that catalogue reference please as I've not seen these as Libochovice anywhere yet? Thanks. :)

Hi Anne
I was looking through Pamelas catalogues on her website and there is a vase in the Libochovice 1925-1928 on tafel 13b.The vase is flanked by 2 dove type birds?

Is that pattern 1584 vase, Nige? The trinket set isn't shown in the 1920s catalogue though...

Pamela has the matching tray and candlesticks listed as Unknown, so she's not managed to run them to earth yet: http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/toilettenservice/02693.html

Black Poppy has a full set showing the pot above as well which was originally shown as Czechoslovakian, but is now (in the new site layout) reallocated to Unknown as well: http://www.black-poppy.co.uk/Miscellaneous/sf5_thumbs0.htm

So... I think the best we can say at the moment is... we don't know! (But we're still looking. :))

Watch this space!!!  :t:
