Valuation help needed
« on: July 27, 2009, 03:47:41 PM »
Hello,

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this paperweight might be worth?  All I know about it is its a Harrods Knightsbridge 1985 paperweight.

Thanks, any information is appreciated.

Modern paperweights are really tricky to value. Often a paperweight will be manufactured in a limited edition, but the original retail value may bear no relation to the re-sale value.

The Harrods name will carry some Kudos but your paperweight is more of a gift weight than a limited edition collectable.

If you intend to keep the weight and enjoy its aesthetic appearance then the value is of no real consequence.

I will now extricate the splinters from my glutæus maximus having spent a little too long sitting on the fence!!!

It likely to be of interest to those who collect advertising materials in general or those who specialise in Harrods items or advertising paperweights. 1985 was when Mohamed Al Fayed bought Harrods.

The only thing on the bottom is the etched Harrods design you can see in the photo.  There is nothing to identify the maker, etc.

I recall having one like that in a mixed lot some time ago, and could not get a bid on it...I think it went to a charity shop. So either I was unlucky, or they are of no significant value.
