VSL pressed flint comport.
« on: August 02, 2009, 06:24:40 PM »
I have looked on Pamela's site (under Belgian pressed glass)  -  and I'm sure this isn't LUXVAL pattern  -  might it be LUCRECE??    It has a hollow coned foot, and has VAL ST. LAMBERT (with DEPOSE underneath) in raised lettering on the inside of the bow (a little off centre).  20.5 cms. wide and 16.5 cms. high.   Not too disimilar from the pattern on Christine's small plates (not her feet you understand), that we saw earlier in the year.     This is the first VSL item I have found showing DEPOSE rather than BELGIQUE.   I'm not sure what the difference means, although wud think the piece is probably 1930, or possibly ealier.
Wud be grateful if anyone is able to enlighten me please.    Thanks for looking.    Paul S.

thanks for the information Frank.     I was intrigued to know whether  -  having the word 'DEPOSE' -  this might indicate the piece was made earlier than those showing simply 'BELGIQUE'  -  although possibly they may have run concurrently.    Paul S.

Don't think it's LUCRECE, the centre is different

Actually, it is Lucrèce, model 6 on 'planche' 16, catalogue 1913.

P.S.   I seem to remember being castigated for using the contraction 'wud', believing I was saving ink...........and people accused me of being unable to spell  -  wood you beleeve it. ;)
