just cased spatter, or not?
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:50:19 PM »
I wud think this is of some reasonable age, judging by base wear, and the construction seems to be a clear casing (quite thick near the base) over a sort of 'spatter' inner layer.     The darker colour is like tortoise-shell, and the lighter is a sort of creamy colour  -  23 cms. x 11cms.  with a fairly large ground pontil.   I've a feeling it is only a run of the mill vase, but grateful if anyone recognizes it to be anything else - and am I correct in date?    thanks for looking.   Paul S.

Hi Paul,

I do not know who made the piece, but perhaps someone will recognize it. Looking at the image of the base I feel you are correcting in assuming it has some age. It does not appear to be a real contemporary piece.
