Topic: Is this an Ysart butterfly weight?

The seller describes this neat butterfly weight as Paul Ysart, which I guess it might be, but it looks more like a Deacons 'J' Glass to me.  Any views?

Have not seen a J Glass on a mottled ground before?  The lampwork looks similar to the Perthshire butterflies, and also Mr W Manson... Other trainees of P Ysart could have made it?

Doesn't look like Paul to me..

Paul Ysart from the Harland years. Not too unusual for a decent weight from the Harland period to not have a signature cane.

The blue/white jasper ground is typical and is very similar to the butterfly weight illustrated in Robert Halls "Scottish" book p126. Nice complex canes to the interior of each wing. Definitely the masters work...

I find Pauls butterflies superb technical creations - Johns work can be very good indeed but can be a tad inconsistent. WM follows in his masters footsteps - his butterflies are generally a slightly tweaked design/construction - usually more lampwork, and less millefiori - if that makes sense??

I'm surprised no one mentioned Peter Holmes - his butterflies are fabulous - or Peter McDougal another superb technician.
