Millefiore Ink bottle/weight
« on: August 28, 2009, 08:46:24 AM »
Have picked up a millefiore bottle/weight....know absolutely nothing about it and am no better off after scanning all my glass books. Am away from home so can't post a picture...will describe as best I can. 61/2" high, base with red, purple, blue, yellow canes; larger blue centre with date 1850. The mushroom sticker has canes p,b,y, within the blue centre there is one white cane, red edged with a black four leafed 'flower, and a gold dot. Very heavy and very beautiful. Almost mint, I don't normally go for this type of glass but can't fail to admire this one! Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards, Pat.

Terribly hard to ID an inkbottle from description alone  ;)
But...with an 1850 date inside a central blue cane my first instinct is 20th Century Murano.

If you post pictures later I'm sure someone will be able to ID it more firmly.

When I said 'sticker' I meant, of course, stopper. Result of trying to do two jobs at once.
