Hi, I have a translucent black glass footed compote or candy dish with lid that I'd like to know what it is, who made it, and basically if it's worth anything. On the bottom it has what appears to be the uppercase letters L and G superimposed on each other, and a primative-looking flower bisecting the letters. I have reason to believe the piece was distributed by Princess House in the early to mid-80's as a reward/limited edition piece to its dealers. This is piece is VERY heavy and the glass is unusually thick. The base part is mostly smooth glass, with eight bamboo-looking flutings up the sides of the footing and the dish, and is 6.25"T. The lid is quite a different matter. It is tall, has a ruffled edging, 4 multidimensional ogees on it, and comes to a point which has four balls at the outside and a center similar sized ball at the top, and is 3.75"T. It is a relatively masculine looking piece, with it's size and weight and color, and could almost be considered like a funeral urn. Anyone have any ideas? I'm just the owner, LOL... my mother-in-law gave it to me many years ago.
