His tone was rude..... quite rude, and very arrogant.... He made immediate assumptions that you would never be a customer. (I guess he proved that one right by his response to you)
He reminds me of a dealer at an auction I went to a few years ago...
He paid a lot of money for a cup and saucer ($900), and I went over after it sold and asked him what it was. I told him I was just curious and had no interest in the item personally. His response to me was that there was no way he would tell me as his knowledge was worth too much to him and he would never share it. He was a real jerk about it.
I went and bought a book on the subject and studied up on line also.... I figured out what it was and what it was worth. Next time a similar one came up for sale at an auction he and I were at, I outbid him with the intention of selling it online. He stared at me with a scowl, obviously remembering our previous conversation. I walked over and told him that his rudeness on the previous occasion had motivated me to learn about something I really had no interest in and that he had successfully turned me into a competitor. I told him that if he had simply answered the question I asked in the first place, my curiosity would have been satisfied and I would have walked away.....
Some people, like the guy that emailed you, simply don't get it..... He obviously does not.... Knowledge is hard for him to acquire, because he is obviously attempting to do it all alone.... without sharing any.... and that is absolutely the most difficult way....
I have always found that the more knowledge I share, the more I learn..... It is a two way street, and that is what this forum is all about....
