Hi guys ~ a bit of a puzzle for you!

I got this set of three glass rods each with metal fittings in a mixed auction lot recently, and haven't got a clue about their use . Can anyone help? Any ideas about the maker would be appreciated too.

The 2 longest ones are about 18.5"/47cm long, the other is about 13"/33cm and they are 5/8"/1.5cm in diameter.

The shortest one has a socket on one end (filled in with plaster?) and a loop on the other end.
One longer one has a hook at one end (to fit in the loop?) and a male screw thread on the other.
Third one has a socket at one end (possibly with a female thread but now filled with plaster) and a ball with a small hole in it at the other.

I guess that the longer ones screwed together and the shorter one was hung from it (the hook/loop combination doesn't work the other way around), but WHY???

Have included some pictures below, and there are more at

HELP!!! Cheers, John.

Probably parts of a light fitting.

If not part of a light fitting, possibly part of an epergne.

See the registered designs pages in Gulliver for Boulton & Mills, Webb and Walsh for table centres and mantelpiece ornaments comprising vases linked by chains and rods.

Please let me know if you wish to sell them.

How strange Bernard ~ I sent it through the messaging system on this board on 8/10!

Anyway, the rods are now on eBay, item 230401725961 ~ feel free to contact me there if you're still interested ;)

Cheers, John.
