Topic: Small 4" vase with etching over maybe adam + eve??

Picked this vase up today good weight no marks think its got some age small etching of man and woman picking fruit from a tree very nice clarity in the glass wondered who it might be made by??? :hiclp:

Can we have a picture of the whole vase side on please? I can't visualise it all from the pics. The engraving reminds me a little of some Patrick showed us, on a jug and tumblers set he has, a while ago...

Those look good to me.  What we need are good to high resolution pictures but resized. Here are some tips to help. http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6522.msg55557.html#msg55557 It's really quite simple.

If we have low resolution pix they are either small blurry messes or big blurry messes. The only thing going for them is the kb size. High resolution and use of macro give us the detail we need for ID. Good luck

Another hint is if you are taking pictures of cut or etched glass, you can put a dull drink (stale cola) or dark coloured paper into the item in order to show the pattern clearly. I'm thinking Scandanavian, but really, I'm like Sgt. Schultz... I know nufink, nufink!

I think Scandinavian as well...however the etching is confusing...i have never seen a vase etched like that...seems modern...but the shape and base does not.... :spls:

Do you think the etches might be done by someone with a glass etching set after the vase was made.

The etching looks typical 1930s, and may have been inspired by Von Eiff http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_von_Eiff. Various engravers were trained by him, both in Germany, in Hungary and in Croatia - but admittedly the style of the vessel is very much Scandinavian, and the stylistic likeness may be pure coincidence.....

As Anne said, this stylised engraving is similar to some glasses and jug that Patrick Hogan put on here (or was it on wf.com?) a while ago.  They feature a drunk and a lamp post (from memory) but I can't find them on here or wf.com at the moment.  It would be nice to compare them stylistically (NOT saying they're the same engraver!)..and to remind myself of what Patrick's jug and glasses look like too.

Anne & Max - I know the set you mean. Just gone back through all of Patrick's posts all the way to December last year, and I still can't find it. Wasn't that long ago though, was it?

Ive seen one set patrick had purchased and listed here it was amber coloured with,mitre cut people on the front by whitefriars is that the one you mean? The cutting s :hiclp:imilar but i wouldnt say they are exactly.
