Uranium flower bowl/vase ID please.
« on: October 30, 2009, 11:06:41 PM »
Hello

It's 6" tall and 10½" wide, and is a blue-green colour.  It's uranium (I was surprised to discover).

TIA
Stu.

Think we need pics against a plain white background for this one Stu, the brown makes it hard to assess colour or pattern.

Hi Anne

Yes, I wasn't too sure about those pictures either.  Hope these makes things a little easier.

Thanks,

Stu — That flower holder is a close match to the one in Evelyn, see Pamela's website, and was also made by Sowerby.

Help.

I can find nothing for Evelyn under Sowerby on Pamela's website, though I have found the name under the Bernsdorf heading.      :) :)

Confused (quite easily),

Stu — ????? — See http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/vasen/03035.html

Note that Pamela has the flower holder BOTH upside down AND not located properly on the inside ledge of the vase, something which is almost impossible to achieve.   ;D

Hi Stu,
the shape is very similar to other Bernsdorf vases: Helvetia & Brittania
Thanks to Pamela for help on ID!

I have one in yellow green uranium but that blue green rules out Sowerby I think

Well thank you all very much for your kind replies.  Now it just comes down to what I sell it as.  "Bernsdorf" or "probably Bernsdorf"  ??

To me it´s an unidentified vase resembling the shape of some Bernsdorf
vases. Perhaps you should wait a while until someone recognises it precisely.  :)
