Hi Marcus,

Can you provide me with the source of any information confirming that, or indicating that the Kralik records are indeed held.  This is, in many years of reading about this glass, the first I have heard that the records are actually known to exist.

I am also curious if you can provide any insight into the reason for the legislation that would limit or prohibit access to them?

Thanks, Craig

Hi Craig,

I discovered these existed when searching the State National Archives at Milady Horákové, and Chodovec, Prague, for Inwald-related materials, and reported that find to certain other members of this board at that time. (2008)

Quote
Name of the fond (archive group): W. Kralik a syn, sklárny, Lenora
Stored in archives: Státní oblastní archiv v Třeboni
Place of origin of the fond (archive group) Lenora
Time extent: 1912-1945
Footage: 0,24 bm (unarranged)
Fond is not accessible under the Archives Act and other legal regulations
Originator of the fond (archive group) - agency:: W. Kralik a syn, sklárny, Lenora 1912-1945
Thematic description: Doklady k účetnictví 1930-44, výrobní záležitosti 1921-43, majetkové záležitosti 1922-45, daně z příjmu a majetku 1939-43.

The reasons for the introduction of said legislation, was ostensibly twofold, on the one hand to protect the privacy of individuals, particularly those in public positions during the communist era.  On the other, to protect Czech enterprises from asset-stripping by non-Czech businesses, particulary those companies holding patents, archives, etc which were felt to be of vital national economic or cultural importance. It was however "blanket" legislation.

Thanks Marcus,  So if I am reading this correctly, the records are for Wilhelm Kralik Sohn and cover the production years from 1912-1945. Was there there any indication of when the records were actually seized and archived?

I know this is also a long shot, but did you find any references to archives for Rindskopf or Pallme-Koenig being indicated?

Thematic description: Doklady k účetnictví 1930-44, výrobní záležitosti 1921-43, majetkové záležitosti 1922-45, daně z příjmu a majetku 1939-43.

I do not read any Czech...  and have not been able to locate a translator online for it. I found an online dictionary that translated only the first word as "Papers", but did not recognize the other words.

Are you able to tell me what the date ranges indicate?

Thanks, Craig

I want to thank everyone for their input.  Who would have guessed that a simple question would disclose a little known, inaccessible, trove of material from a nation that no longer exists.

I can tell you that on Alfredo's site, 16WG4 is just a number for the photograph - the initials WG are mine (it's a photo of a vase in my collection). As to the piece, I agree that it is Kralik, 1930s.

Covers work records, directors record etc.

No, I have no idea of the date of accession, by the archive.

It may surprise some here, after several years of contributing, that as a tri-lingual person, many of my efforts have been disregarded, ignored, maligned, impugned.

After recent events, originating with certain French-based GMB members, I have no desire whatsoever, to continue to use my skills base, in order to advance the current state of Czech glass knowledge, on GMB, or elsewhere.

Tant pis. (For our US-based friends, a TS slip).

Alfredo Villanueva and Eddy Scheepers (loetz.com) have visited the Kralik museum in Lenora and photos were militantly forbidden.

Craig,

for ref, Google translates Czech (language tools button to the right of the search field)

The line you're looking at translates, I believe, as:
Evidence for accounts 1930-44, 1921-43 production issues, the financial affairs of 1922-45, taxes on income and assets 1939-43.

Gareth

Thanks Gareth. I have looked several times for a reasonable Czech translator.
