opalescent enamelled footed vase, French, Bohemian ?
« on: November 08, 2009, 04:18:16 PM »
It was love at first sight,  :-* My eyes saw it across a crowded little antiques fair !  :24:
I had to have it come and live with me

:24: Anyway, Its Opalescent bobbly lumps (inside vase) irridescent, 3 feet,
beautifully enamelled with flowers. 6 inches tall.
Enamelled stuff usually doesnt appeal to me, but the quality of this ( i hope shows in photos)
tells me its a good maker.
Does anyone have an idea, or point me to the possible origins, im thinking it may be French, Bohemian,
or could it be English/?? im thinking it dates circa 1900.
It needed a good clean, and i got a bottle brush stuck in it for a while, luckily i managed to
prise it out carefully!
hope you like it,
Cheers
Andy

This type of opaline glass was favored by the French and Italians. Maybe it will give some idea of the origin.

Good luck with the operation, Andy, and hope you're back on your feet sooner rather than later. Enjoy the enforced rest!  :kissy:

Thanks for suggestions and best wishes,
Im on the mend slowly!
My thoughts at the moment, Ive looked through my books, and quite a few websites, not found
anything that similar, my Mum thinks the flowers are alpines, so maybe that leads to France/Austria/bohemian
Its blown not moulded, so colour is Lalique ish, but probably not,
I think the etching is in the style of Fritz Heckert, im sure ive seen very very similar somewhere on the web?
i sometime end up on  Mike Moirs website, Mike, any ideas?
I do hope to find an answer to this one as the quality is so good.

Good news now, im off to the pub for a few Guinness's, first for ages,
Cheers all,
Andy
