things to do with a beer bottle
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:09:39 AM »
Item: beer bottle, slumped, pinched and tweezered to make an ashtray with a candle stick in the middle.

Now I've seen the Vasart items whereby bottles went flat into the oven and produced a sort of tray. This is obviously a variation on that theme. Anyone come across these before?

There seem to be a lot of people doing things like this in their slumping kilns, google "glass artist recycled" or similar

I know someone who makes the same sort of thing in his fire after a barbeque. Surprised he hasn't burnt himself, actually.

All because of an unknown ceramicists experiment in US, a nutty Scot company director, and Vincent Ysart finding a commercial way of doing it. With a little help from Nazeing along the way. The Teachers bottles became ubiquitous at one time and obviously created a big impression, or is it depression.
