Topic: id please for dark amber (very vaguely) wfrs. style vase.

o.k., so I know it's not, but surely you can see the vague similarity  -  a sort of cross between a tricorn and an elephants foot .    Wrong colour  -  I do have a gold-amber wfrs. tricorn, so I know this one is way way too dark (and much too big), and is more like the elephants foot sort, -  but has only the flat ground base that you see.   Not a mould finish base, or a ground pontil in sight, and a fire polished top rim (as opposed to ground and bevelled).  Quit big at 31.5 cms. tall, and 9.5 cms. wide at the base.   Interestingly, from about 2 cms. to about 6 cms. up from the base, each alternate flute carries within it another short flute running up and disapearing into a hole in the body.    Wear can be mis-leading, but I might go with 20 - 40 years if pushed, and needless to say no marks.    Yes, it does actually lean slightly.   Grateful for anyone's thoughts, and thanks for looking.         Paul S.

I know what you mean Paul but I have seen a few of these, one had a label.  It was a long time ago, but I think it was a "Made in Czechoslovakia" one.  Don't hold me to that, as my memory fails me, but I can say it is not Whitefriars.

LOL!  that's what I had hoped when I saw the one years go, before I turne it round and saw the label!!!
