3 Flower Paperweights. Chinese?
« on: December 12, 2009, 07:41:38 AM »
I bought these 3 paperweights from an old lady at the flea market about 11years ago for $5 each. I though the price was reasonable. 2 Green 'flower' and 1 Orange 'flower' with central air bubble and air bubbles over the leaves. The clear glass has a dullish look to it. They range in height from 6.3cm to about 7cm and dia's of the same dimensions. The bases are slightly frosted. Chinese? or something else? I know nothing about paperweights. Any help would be appreciated. ;D

Instead of another thread for this one, something similiar but purchased 5 years apart. The clear glass in this one is a lot clearer/brighter than the other 3. The flower shape does not seem as good as the other 3 also. This one is 7cm high and almost 7cm in dia. Same type of frosting to the base. Could it be from a different batch run of chinese paperweights?  :24: Or completely different? Any thoughts?  ;D

All six are Chinese. The quality of Chinese weights is very variable. Some can be quite nice.

Some onf the newer Chinese weights have nicely polished bases.
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

I have quite a few of these Chinese flower weights myself. My favorites are the ones that have insects or little frogs in addition to the flowers.
