Topic: Art deco bowl Bagley maybe?

Can anyone help identify this bowl please? I thought it may be Bagley. Also does anyone recognise the centre piece.

It looks like a Sowerby lily vase, from their Ellison Glass Works. If it's 9" then it's "L/LILY", 7" would make it "S/LILY", and smaller would make it a posy set. They were available in flint, amber, blue and green, and you're missing the plinth. This info comes from photocopies of the original catalogues, but can also be found in Glen and Stephen Thistlewood's CD Sowerby’s Ellison Glass Works: Vol Two (George V to Elizabeth II).

The figure doesn't go with the set, but you probably worked that out.

Thanks Cathy B, it's 8.5" across 7" high, did you mean height or width in your figures ?
Not something I would normally buy, bought the figure separate, thought maybe someone would recognise her, or even be missing her from a piece?

The figure was made by Scweig,Muller & Co of Germany I think.She came also with long wavy hair.Went in a separate flower holder and bowl.Sometimes aswell the figure would be part of lamps.Is she for sale?

The numbers quoted were height. There would have been some variation as the pieces were finished on a former after unmoulding. The ''fingers" could be made to either stand upright or curve downwards.

...   There are several quite close copies of early non-registered Sowerby Tynesyde designs which appear from time to time.   Another is of the 2505 Lily / Iris range, complete with a similar but not identical 2487 Star flower holder.   ...

Chris — Your vase plus flower holder is a Sowerby 2505 Lily lookalike, not by Sowerby but Continental in origin.   The flower holder is certainly not a Sowerby 2487 Star flower holder, as it is much too wide and open, and the vase doesn't look quite right for the 2505.   Any chance of a view of the side moulding of the vase, please?

I'm sure I've seen the Continental version in a trade catalogue somewhere, probably in Pamela's collection here.   As you can see from the quote above, this lookalike has been known for a while.

Chris — Looking at it again, I am not quite so sure that it's not the Sowerby 2505 Lily Set rather than the lookalike.   More pictures please.

Thanks Bernard, will take some more tomorrow, thanks everyone for your help so far.
Just  notice it has 8 double diamond cut outs with an extended point, at intervals round the edge of the base extending upwards on the sides of the vase.

Chris & Cathy — I've both versions of the flower holder, but, and it's a big but, they're in the far corner, about three quarters of the way down a floor to ceiling stack of trays of plinths and flower blocks, behind my stall equipment and a stack of stock boxes, themselves behind my folding shelves and tables, and I haven't got the strength this morning.   Or the time.   ... and I've got to get Votiva Tabella photographed and up on eBay.   Should do well with a £4.99 SP — the lowest price on amazon is £101.50.

Thank goodness they all copied each other like crazy.   Can you imagine how design would have suffered had they not?
