Svoboda Glass Factory 2009
« on: December 17, 2009, 03:31:58 PM »
Hi all!

During a recent stay in the Czech Republic, thanks to a kind invitation from GMB member Jindrich (Thanks Jindra!), I had the good fortune to see the Svoboda Glass factory near Skrdlovice. I attach a link to a gallery of images taken at Svoboda that may be of interest to some GMB members. There is even a picture of Mr Svoboda. He designed glass for Skrdlovice for many years and his work has been exhibited internationally. In recent years, his factory has produced many pieces and his showroom has 1800 examples on display, including some Skrdlovice designs by various designers such as Palecek and Vizner. The factory is managing to keep going in a difficult climate and in the workshop were numerous pieces heading for England as part of a specific order, the array of glass is most impressive.

Thanks Michelle. I just have a couple of photos of his work I have taken in a more ordinary photographic setting. The showroom was not easy photography but I am glad you got the Alladin's cave feeling about the volume of good glass!!

Thank you for the comments,
