I purchased this from an online auction. It's a small piece at 2.5" inches tall and 6" inches long, but the glass is quite substantial at a little over an inch thick. It's hard to see in the photo, but along with the unusual encased texture, there are tiny controlled bubbles. I thought it might be Italian, but the Italian glass ash receivers I've seen are usually more garish and not as toned down as this. Did Scandinavian or British glass makers do hand blown items such as this?
