Just received this lovely pair of opalescent 19th Century flasks/vases, both exactly 6 1/2 Inches tall.
I havent yet searched too far, but theres some interesting and hopefully helpful clues to their
origin, which i thought someone may know straight away !
Both have polished irridescent purply pontils, ridged like stars! And they are both marked/signed  ;D
The seller thought it was 98 over a 4 ?? I can see what he means, but Im not too sure,
i will post some close ups of the marks on both vases , both ways up, i think its possibly the
same mark on each vase ??
Any suggestions to maker / country very welcome.
Have fun,
Andy

Just a thought :P
Nice to have a pair, im thinking they are mould blow, but the diamond shapes are
totally different sizes, so definitely not from the same mould!
Im considering giving this pair to my Mum and Dad for a Christmas present, that way, i still get to
see and admire them when i want, and they are so much better than most of the old tat
on thier shelves, that have no family history, no beauty, no aesthetic appeal, just stuff that
gets kept for some reason!
Was it Charles Rennie Mackintosh, that said  ' if its not useful or beautiful , chuck it in the bin'
( something like that! )  ;D

Any ideas from the signature sleuths out there?
I have a confession to make, on Xmas day, i decided this pair should really go to someone
who appreciated them. So i found a good place and kept them >:D

No idea about the signature sorry but we have the same TV and stand - regrettably mine isn't loaded with yummy glass like yours, it's heaving with Disney and Pixar DVDs and Nintendo and XBox games courtesy of my daughter  ::)

I think Harrach is a good possibility.

Thanks Warren,
I was wondering about Harrach, it does look like an arty H with a few scrolls on it.
Its bugging me a bit ::)

Me again,
comparing the marks on mine to the H on this link,
Mod: Link removed as content changed to inappropriate site

Im thinking its very most likely the same as the H at the beginning of the signature,
just etched, and not painted  :D
Ive also seen a nice group of clear vases by Harrach with the same delicate enamel designs,
which im trying to find again ::) , it was on one of the wonderful Bohemian collectors sites.

Some nice Harrach here, on Warren Galles site  ;) (one of those aforementioned wonderful sites! )
http://sites.google.com/site/bohemianglassandmore/harrach
Warren, do you think im fairly safe with this attribution?
Cheers
Andy

I admit I am unsure how safe it is, Andy - I can only say that that's the direction I would lean. :)
