Strathearn & Murano(?) Lamp Bases
Pinkspoons:
I've just been pottering in my local antique/collectables shop and came across two lamp bases in the piles of other bits and pieces, one was a tall (about 30-40cm) Strathearn twisted clear glass lamp base...
And a Murano (style) lamp base of a similar shape, but in cased blue glass. Like this, but nicer: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7363222050
I recall not long ago that there was an obscene leap in the price Murano-esque lamp bases of this style, has that died down a bit? eBay seems a bit scarce on the ground with them, so it's hard to judge.
They were marked up at £35 a piece in the shop, and I was just wondering if that was a reasonable price for a weekend treat for myself with the view of eventually reselling them when I get bored?
Frank:
This one is not the Angus Sillars base by Strathearn. The Strathearn ones are quite variable in price but 35 might be on the high side. Most of the Strathearns, but not all, have the seal on the base.
Coloured ones do better than all clear.

Pinkspoons:
Ah, this is the fellow - just like this one, except clear. It has the seal on the bottom too - the only reason I knew it was Strathern, that and a Miller's book!
Thankfully because I exchange cash in the shop fairly regularly I can barter the price down a touch... any suggestion of what a fair price would be? :)
Frank:
Not really, I have seen them go as low as 10 and as high as 40 - if you like the piece just haggle for the best price you can get.

I remember seeing something like this described as Whitefriars but there was no Pattern number so probably wasn't Whitefriars. This one was red on the inside and clear on the outside. :)
