Paperweight or pebbleweight or something to look nice in the window.

The signature looks like a more recent one to me, maybe last 10 or 20 years (complete guesstimate). Like the textured finish.

Yup, I'd guesstimate the same, John. This is the small italic-y mark (mentioned in the other recent thread) which I associate with the plastic labels.
  If absolutely necessary, you could hit a burglar on the head with it - though you'd probably get done for assault. You could do the same with any other paperweight.
I didn't know they were doing textured stuff again. Hinterestink!

Do you have one of the textured cylinder vases? Can you compare the textures?
It looks a bit similar, but it's not that easy to tell from pics. It does look a bit flatter though there could be several reasons for that, if it is.
(I know wot I mean,  :spls: :spls: :spls:)

Sue and John are quite right - last 10 years or so.

I've only seen a couple of these textured ones before, though they were taller - they stand on the polished, signed bit.  One had the plastic, modern sticker on and was described as a wave.

I know the cylinder and the weight are completely different eras, Keith - (that is exactly the one I mean - thanks!  ) 

I am just very curious to know if they're actually using the same texture - or if a completely new one has been designed.

Can you tell at all?
Is there a section of the vase which matches the PW - not necessarily in depth or quality, just the exact same pattern?

(as moulds are used, they do become worn and the crispness is lost, perhaps the texture in the PW might have "slumped" a bit.)

No match in pattern they are very different,to my untrained Mdina eyes,have inc' more pic's showing shape,Keith.

Can the piece stand upright?  They usually stand on the polished section.  It may photograph better that way.

Can see that the texture is very different from older pieces, the other modern ones I've seen are even more textured than this. So yet another style to catalogue.  Nice colours in yours, the others were a bit bland in comparison.
