Topic: I need your help with popular glass co.'s from ca.1900

Hi! I'm new to the glass collecting area and I haven't a clue where to begin. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the names of popular European and American glass companies that were in business in 1900 and made things like art glass vases that were for sale in high end stores, so I can have somewhere to get started on my searching. Thank you for your time and any help you can provide to me.

Oh, I think I found the right term for what kind of glass I'm looking for from that time--"cased glass"? Two different colors together, solid looking.

Cased glass is not really my cup of tea, see links below

Hi and welcome to the board. At the time you're asking about there were literally 1000s of glass companies all over the place so you've your work cut out to search them all!   

If you want to know about specific pieces please post each one in a new topic along with reasonable size photos - side view, top rim, base view etc... and we'll try and point you in the right direction and save you some time and effort. List is not so long for solid colour cased, but not cheap. Look up French Cameo too - at circa 1900. Also an area strong in fakes and repros. Get books to get the depth of knowledge you will need. Including one that covers the fakes in depth. If you go to the Art Deco period c1925 on prices can be easier on the pocket and a lot more choice. Expect to pay more for the best US than much European.
