Funky Warrior Paper Weight (??) Any Ideas?
« on: March 18, 2010, 10:19:04 AM »
I bought this just because it is Glass, and very, very heavy glass.  I assume Newer, and I assume a Paper Weight.  Not sure what is suppose to be off in order to do a search on the Net.  Any ideas what he is? Or where he might be from?  I am assuming this all....but to me looks like a Warrior, or something

???? But I still like him - no matter what...

I think this is a "figurine" as it is too thin to be a paperweight. And, yes, Mexican might fit.

I will put my "Mod" hat on and move to Glass for a wider audience.

THEY look like Brothers kinda.....Yes, they look very much alike.  I do not know why I bought this either (maybe a Warrior GOD cast a Spell on me...) but I did.  I still think He is a new paper weight -- and I was thinking too (now thinking out-loud) that maybe it is also a *magnifying glass* too.  Have not tried that yet to see IF it does.

I like his cuts in it, and the *creepy* shadow that he does cast also.  I took and posted here (2nd one pic) that shows his creepy shadow.  Must be a God....OMG  :spls2:

*Maybe* he is also a magnifing glass so that when you looking in a phone book you can see numbers since HIS back is so smooth, makes him easy to move along papers.  Will try to see if he magnifies things, and it is readable.....or because of the thickness, it does not work as this....???

hey -- I found this link here.  He has a name.  I just happen to stumble onto this.  These are called OBSIDIAN TIKI FIGURINE/PAPERWEIGHT.  See this Link:  http://www.tias.com/10782/PictPage/3923649923.html

Says that one is from the 1970's - So maybe ours are in from that Range too...so possible ID?  At least by what it is called ...

Interesting, Hawaii seems a possibility, im not sure the seller has any more idea than we do.
Just had a google around, the Hawaii ones look a bit different to me, and seem to be mostly wood.
