Folk talking about "the pontil" on a bit of glass (eeeeeek!) is a big bugbear for lots of glassy folk.

And there are still many folk who are not too happy with the word "pontil", saying it should be "punty". But a search of the Board for "punty" and "pontil" will eventually reveal several lengthy discussions.

Fascinating thing, terminology. ;D

What I don't understand is why someone has gone to all the trouble to handblow the piece and grind and polish the pontil scar, only to whack those horrible 1970s pear stencils on the side.

I agree Cathy....that was my point in the first place!
