Dugan Barcelona, Maybe
« on: April 01, 2010, 02:49:25 AM »
I've had these two vases for over 10 years but would really like to confirm the id now.  Based on the picture on page 187 of the Dugan/Diamond book, I have to  think they're Dugan Barcelona, but documentation is thin.  The first vase is opaque black, like the one in the book (although it looks like the one in the book may have gotten a post-mould twist), and the match looks really good.  Nothing about the height in the book.  Mine is about 6 1/8".

Vase two is where more questions come up.  The body looks the same and feels the same as far as the "waves".  Both have two fairly distinct mould lines, as the one in the book appears to have.  However, this second vase is uranium formula green with a bubble effect throughout.  The Dugan book refers to the McKee "Rebecca" line as a competitor along with "Catalonian" and says "Rebecca" had a "Mexican bubble effect".  Now, that sounds like this vase.  Then again, maybe Dugan did such an effect as well since so little seems to be documented...unless more has been documented since the book.  Got all that?  Oh, the flared rim on the green vase has been reworked outside the mould as seen in the picture.
Help?
Thanks.
Forrest
