Bottles / Bottle Vases? for ID, please
« on: April 01, 2010, 04:08:05 AM »

A rather pleasing group, possibly Incalmo, I believe.   So, are they by Ian Bamforth or Iestyn Davies, or are there any other makers?

Usual, please, maker, designer, dates, &c.

Thanks for your interest,

If i am correct as I am doing this from a shoddy memory, they should all be by Tapio Wirkkala for Venini around 1966 or so. They are called Bolle vases. Someone with a better memory will need to confirm. Are they signed?

Very good memory, Kane. 1966 was the year of design and they're still being made. See http://www.venini.it/eng/catalogo.php?id_catalogo=1&nome=ArtGlass&id_categoria=5 which includes their production number from Catalogo Verdi. And they are incalmo.

They should have the Venini mark on them, which can be difficult to see in some of the older pieces. A lovely grouping.

Huntiegowk was the term we used in Scotland on this day.  What was the English equivalent?

I like these much more than Wirkkala's Iitalla designs. Are these from a collection somewhere?

Yes, Cathy, they are.   I thought that there was enough information in the photograph for members to figure it out, but it's obvious a little help is needed:

Does that help?

I like these much more than Wirkkala's Iitalla designs.

He did a few very nice pieces for Iitalla, like this one from the mid 60's.
