sorry to be vague - although think I have seen the shape somewhere before - might it be medicinal? Ht. about 138mm, and the outer 4mm of the foot appears to be folded over - am I correct. Some internal staining, unfortunately, and a flea bite to the top rim, and with some considerable wear to the underside of the foot, which has a neat ground and polished pontil about 12mm in dia. Sorry the pics. aren't too great, but wud be very interested in anyone's opinion please, and thanks for looking.

Not sure what its for, possibly just a little vase. Folded foot, is an 18thcentury thing, to make the base stronger and less prone to chips, polished pontil,i seem to recall began c 1800, so its quite possible its about 200 years old.

thanks Andy - it does look a little antiqueeee - probably now my oldest piece of glass

, and bearing in mind how thin it is, then quite remarkable it has survived this long. You cud be right - maybe just a small vase.

Sorry to have to say this. No way this vase is an antique. Its more look like a modern vase. The colour is wrong ,the shape also wrong for the period. Overall l think its not over 20 years old.

Sorry but I have to agree with Ming, the foot is too flat and the folded rim too regular apart from the points that have already been mentioned. With regard to the medicinal reference leech containers had everted rims, similar to your posy vase, this was to facilitate tying a muslin over the jar to stop them escaping, and this may be what jogged your memory. :thup:

thanks Ming and ipd - oh well, can't win them all. Must admit the glass is perhaps a little too clear, although the wear on the underside of the foot made me think of some age. Never mind, back into the charity shop.

The one thing i thought was the folded foot was far too neat.
There does seem to be a lot of what appears to be genuine age wear to the foot,
maybe i will split the difference c1900 give or take 80 years.

If I had to make a guess I would say 1920-1930! :thup:
