Hi

I bought some Italian paperweights the other day - one has a label and I have a rough idea what one other may be, help with any of the others appreciated, yet to buy any good Murano/Italian paperweight books (in fact is a new area for me, I usually collect Scottish)

3.8” diam, 2.6” high, weight 1 kilo – a magnum I think and of great quality with some fantastic canes, beautifully round, polished base

2.75” diam, 2.5” high clear glass with bubbles to base and coloured flower, label ‘Ferro & Lazzarini’ any idea on what this design is called?

2.75 diam, 3” high 'semi dump' scramble weight with some animal canes and aventurine - white circle to base

3” diam, 2.75” high clear glass with six 'stones' making up the bed, the stones 'large canes themselves' coloured purple with lots of white, yellow and red flower canes making up the interior

5” high pear shaped weight with mottled red ground (there are many colours in the mottling giving a painters palate effect on close inspection, has hundreds of perfect bubbles uniformly spaced, polished base shows a clear glass interior

Hi

Leni

I saw the above thread and thought you may like to know what the label would have looked like on your Ferro & Lazzarini, they seem from the same series, although yours is more complex than mine :D

Anyone else got any thoughts on the other weights, is the X cane on the 1st closepack paperweight and indicator of anything. I have seen something close but labelled as vintage

It has been suggested that the scramble is an older Fratelli Tosso - not sure about that.

The third one is difficult as I can't see anything on Sweetbriar, eBay - it is so precise and the other millefiori are very ragged in comparison

The fourth I am sure is a Murano, it has that Italian base - but again I have only had vague ideas thrown at me

Any help appreciated, any good Murano P weight books or websites

Leni:
Jackie Lindsay's site 'Corner House Gallery'  http://www.muranopaperweights.co.uk/  is good for Murano paperweights.

Your no. 3 looks like a 3Fiori to me.

I have one very like your first closepack, but I don't think mine has an X cane     Will have to go and look closely at it again!

PS.  Another useful site - very large and takes considerable time to download - is http://verredart.atspace.com/Paperweights.html

Some of the ID's might surprise you

Hi Leni

Thanks for posting

Yes my number three looks like a few 3fiori aventurine scrambles I have seen, mine is old though and the base is very distinctive

I loved the long page collection - I think I have identified my controlled bubble pear as A. JABLONSKI, Poland, Pear shaped Crystal with Controlled Bubbles - mind you there are other Murano paperweights like it on the same site

A shame it does not give attributions, I see Fratelli Tosso labels on weights but no name given in the description box

Adding this from Murano thread

Any info on the above paperweights as well as the Venini appreciated

I bought this Item in Milan designed by Versace for £212.00 - I am interested in the Versace/Venini connection and the simplicity of the object.

I do not have it in any of my catalogues - does anyone know the name of the item? also it is etched to base Versace / Venini 1998/30 – I was getting information from the manager about how it was the last one in a small edition, I am sure the edition was limited but not to 30 – so what is the 30 for?

I have only just started to buy new Venini items, by that I mean pre 21st Century

Any help appreciated

4” diam, 2” high, 1.1k weight, round label ‘Venini Murano Made in Italy’, etched to base Versace / Venini 1998/30

Large round bottom/back & small standing base/side (etched)
