Ferro & Lazzarini & Venini, etc. Paperweights help n

<< < (2/2)

Jackie:
hello - with ref to your five weights -

1.  If you can pinpoint the maker of this I would be very pleased as I have one exactly the same!

2.  Ferro & Lazzarini

3.  Possibly 3 Fiori, I agree with Leni - certainly could be their canes although I have not seen one exactly like that.  Ferro & Lazzarini also procuced some scrambles, using what looked like 3 Fiori canes. However F&L did produce a few millefiori type weights, though rather crude (not in a derogatory way) so they may have made cog canes themeselves.

4. I would say this is a good quality 3 Fiori.

5.  Hard to say - F&L were good at bubbled things, but only a hazardous guess.

Hope that is some food for thought!

Hi Jackie

Thanks so much for your opinion, it really helps to get lots of opinions as it helps take me in a direction, I agree with you tentatively about the 3 Fiori, can you tell me what date you think, as I heard they are signed or is that the newer weights.

I am trying to find out about the large colourful weight with the X cane, has yours got a similar cane in it? I love this weight it is so colourful and well made.

You know what I decided to email Venini about the weight I just bought; in fact the shop I bought it from gave me the wrong box. It has label to base calling the weight 'Grenadine' ... or could that be what it is called?

I don't know, that conjures up a red paperweight in my mind.

Jackie:
Hello again Adam - I have just re-read your original posting - properly this time as I was in a rush yesterday.  Sorry I see you asked for the name of the design of the F&L weight.  They probably called it "fiori.....(followed by whatever colour it was)". Just a descriptive name. My early stock sheets from them were identified by "Art.333" etc only.

I love your versace/Venini weight.  To be honest I don't care for Venini glass, I find it large and odd and very very expensive!  I have one Venini miniature weight, but it is not particularly attractive - I just wanted a Venini for my collection. How big is your Venini weight? Apologies if you have already said.

Regarding the colourful weight - what exactly are you referring to as the X cane? Am I being dense?  Mine is buried under a mountain of Xmas stuff, so cannot get at it to look at it at the moment.

Regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie

That's excellent information about the F&L - there have been a few posted on the board recently, similar bubbled bases with varied sprays in different colours, some look like flower petals (beautiful) - it makes sense that they would have a colour related name as that is what they seem to be all about - you have original stock sheets?, I have found a site that sells such things (catalogues, sales brochures and price lists) at about 15 euros, I guess some will be more useful than others but it must be worth buying a few to stumble on a really useful one.

The X cane is only my confection    - it's at the top, an orange X with four blue dots (only cane like it in the weight)

Venini is 4” diam, 2” high, 1.1k weight, round label ‘Venini Murano Made in Italy’, etched to base Versace / Venini 1998/30

I wanted to know if the 30 referred to an edition number, they said in the shop it was old stock and it was the last of that edition?

I agree about the prices, an Inciso bottle was Euro 3,900 - I can get same 1970s version for under £800.00. It is not where any real collector would shop. They know me and let me in all the cupboards and I often find an out of edition item at the original price - even then it's expensive.

I have already been offered more than I paid for the one posted, I think it covers a few bases 1) Ltd editions 2) Venini 3) paperweights 4) Versace. It also has two bases so it can stand upright. It is very beautiful and just about the only Versace designed item I would want to own
