Green Frosted Glass Lady Decanter HELP
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:17:37 PM »
Hi
I have found this beautiful green frosted glass lady decanter and 6 matching small shot glasses and would like to know if anyone has any information about it ie age, maker etc. The guy in the shop said it was 1930's.
Many thanks

This looks Czech, possibly a Schlevogt pattern. The design will likely date from the 1930s, however the item could have been made yesterday.

I agree with Steven, designed by Schlevogt. Only just the head appears as lipstick case (!) in their 1937 pattern book.

The small, heavy one on the left with four glasses is an original, I believe. See also image 2447 of its high polished crystal base, typical for Schlevogt.

The larger but lighter, non-uranium green one on the right is equal to Mich's - base photo 2451.

A white decanter # 35192 with six glasses is shown on page 24 of 1949 catalogue of Glassexport Praha, Checoslovakia, unfortunately no measurements indicated  ::)

Hope this helps  :)

Mich, I wish to leave this question unanswered - there are to many possibilities:
Could also be made in France by Schlevogt, where the family went during the late Thirties.
Halama and Glassexport companies, and later Desna, produced and still make Hoffmann and Schlevogt designs in Czecho-Slovaquia, now Czechia.
Considering that it comes up quite often now, and, as Steven said, could also be made today, but by whom - I do not know  :-\

mich19uk, your images are very large and cause screen scrolling to be able to see them for those of us using smaller screens or laptops. Can we take copies and add them to the board so they are resizeable to everyone who wants to look at them without the scrolling problem please?
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

I see you're now selling this on ebay - an acknowledgement of where you got the attribution from would be polite.....
