11.25 inches high,not sure if it was plated,doesn't look like chrome,the glass fits perfect,no marks anywhere,

Doesn't appear in WMF's 1906 catalogue...

As Ivo said, it would likely be marked if WMF.

Thanks Nic,have managed to photograph these tiny marks,best I can do,only 2-3 mm across,thebottom one looks like 'H' the other a diamond shape with a pattern,

Ah, WMF it is, then.  :) The 'pattern' will be an ostrich. The mark dates to 1909/1910 and later.

Good-Morning Keith. I have sourced the vase as being very similar (but not identical as) to those as are illustrated in the Army & Navy Stores Sales Catalogue of 1907.  ALL of their glass was english made and was available with various mounts which were produced out-of-house via their own ironmongery department. They were certainly "BIG" on the heraldic mounts and for those of the millitary. NONE of their glass was factory marked (which never helps!) but by studying your photo, it so looks like one from their range. Hope that helps!  Jazz
