Hi there.   I am not sure about this.  I just happen to find this today on a Rainy day here going around to some Antique Store here.  It is about 2.75 inches tall, and about 5.75 inches wide, and quite heavy.  It appears to have a polished base with quite a bit of wear/age to it.  It is a mauvish/purplish color with some twisted swirls in it.

I bought it because I thought it (might) have that same kind of flow as my other post here:  http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32442.0.html

Could it be the same maker as that one ??

If I am wrong, that is OK as I still consider myself a newbie after that *other* glass on drugs post.  Did I spot this one right?  Or in left field?  Any other info always welcomed.

*Bottom pic in NEXT post*

Thanks

With the other bowl you did fine as far as I could tell. You posted on GMB what I and some others thought was a very nice 1950's Skrdlovice bowl. I think you have done the same again although this looks very much like an ashtray by the same company.

It may be possible for some members given some time, to find the pattern numbers from documents and if Jindrich recognises it, I am sure he will comment!  Another nice piece of 50's glassmaking from the Bohemian region, modern Czech Republic (at least I think so), a lovely item!

Thanks bOBA.... I will wait to see what Jindrich says.

I am glad I spotted it, as this is now only my second (?Czech?) piece.  I will not say I am a good (or quick) *learner* ---- but rather This Board is the *Best Teacher*  ;)

This newbie Glass pupil says Thank you.

This piece is rather ZBS ( Železnobrodský sklo) than Skrdlovice but surely Czech.

Thanks Jindrich for the ID - but what/who is "ZBS ( Železnobrodský sklo)" as I only understand/speak English here  :spls:.  Also would you have a date/year made?  Is  Železnobrodský the marker ?  Does he have a first name?

Is it a small dish, bowl, or ashtray ?

Thanks a Zillion for your addition info requested here.   :-*

Železnobrodský[/b][/u] sklo (ZBS for short) is the glass works name
michelle

thanks Michelle - What year might this be from, with the wear on the bottom?  Would it have a (decent) value to it at all?

Kinda funny here, IF I am trying to say the name right -- My sons Name is Brody  (similar as in Železnobrodský[/u]) so I guess I have to call my son Brod-ski now too.

Thanks in advance..
