ID help - Cubby01's Bowl
« on: May 24, 2010, 11:04:05 PM »
Hi all, first post to this group, be easy on me  ;D

When I bought this a few weeks ago I initially thought it was American pressed glass then maybe mold blown.  There was some fine glass at the estate including some very nice murano pieces most mid century stuff and this one has some good ware on the base so I assume at least several decades old.  Anyone got an easy ID for the manufacturer of this one?  ... or even which continent?

Edit: Oh, it's 6-1/2" across.

TIA, -Buck

Hi, Buck, and welcome to the GMB! I'm glad to see you made it over here. I can't be much help with your bowl, but I wondered if you had tested it under black light. It looks to me as if it might have some uranium.

The texture of the glass makes me lean toward Scandinavian, perhaps Swedish. I hope someone else will have more precise information soo. Just really wanted to say welcome.

Thanks Anita!  Scandinavian was certainly a thought.  I wonderd if it might be a salad bowl for a while.  Blenko did a small salad bowl with a vaguely similar form.  I know its not Blenko but got me thinking along that crystal/dinnerware path.  Tried google images searches with various keyword combinations for quite a while but still no success.  ...Yet  :)
