Topic: IITTALA is spelled with 2 "T"s, remember and avoid fake signatures...

I happened to see this odd vase attributed to T.Sarpaneva on ebay and looked closer, and I just advise everyone to check you spell foreign names and words correctly. Or that you know at least how they should be spelled when you read them. (when you see a signature on the bottom of a vase for example) 

Well, of course this is handy so you avoid at least the grossest cons, but on the other hand if you are a decent reliable seller and your topic is "iitala" you might miss a buyer searching the ebay for "iittala".  There are a few of those too I noticed.

PS.  Humppila has 2 p:s, Riihimäki 2 i:s in the beginning, like Nuutajärvi 2 u:s.

The vase looks like recent Chinese production to me, but I may be wrong. (Nic, if you're around, what do you think?) It's worrying that the signature is so neat.

I agree about the origins. It just doesn't look like Sarpaneva and neither could I find it in the big iitala book or Designlasi. I saw it but definitely didn't bid.

It's only a matter of time before the engraver realises the spelling mistake.

Possibly it´s  a Joska vase, see this earlier topic:
