Horrid Vase...Probably Ikea...
« on: June 10, 2010, 08:36:10 AM »
I really don't know what I was thinking today. But here it is...a horrid bluey/purple square vase. 28cm tall, 11.5cm x 11.5cm (at least the mould was even).Probably something ghastly from ikea. I had dreams on neodymium/alexandrite glass. The end flares out a bit with an uneven rim. The base is very Whitefriar'ish in appearance (but in a bad way).

Chinese? or something slightly better? Thankfully I managed to score a Orrefors bowl along with this so it wasn't a total loss! Apparently it came from the same person so I am assuming this hideous thing was a gift. Heaven forbid intentionally bought  :pb:

I don't think the vase is that horrid...  No idea what it is, but as a vase, it's a perfectly usable piece.  It's sublte enough not to draw attention away from the lovely bouquet of flowers it could hold.

One question though... In your first picture, the color at the bottom of the vase looks leaky -- is it time for me to put on my glasses, or does it really look like that?

I just noticed that from the first pic myself. In real it doesn't look like that. I am assuming this is from the ripple effect at the bottom which is quite subtle. And true! I do now have a usuable vase. The only problem is I haven't bought flowers in 8 yrs  :24:
