There is one further Bagley piece, possibly one of the small posy vases like
Ocean, that regularly turns up in this purple / amethyst colour. Can anyone provide enlightenment?
Note that this should be expected. Single manufacturer specialist historians have a tendency to invent rules for their chosen victims, which might work as general guidelines but fail in less usual circumstances. Baker & Crowe show us that the Marks & Spencer buyer sought exclusivity, and I have no doubt that other buyers did likewise. So this very limited use of amethyst / purple could have been an exclusive or a trial which worked, and there are probably other explanations.
