Bowl-O-Beauty (Real Roses in Glass Container)
« on: June 26, 2010, 12:37:40 AM »
Hi there;
Does anyone remember these?  They are suppose to have real flowers in them (with some kind of stuff inside) and then it has like a *special Display Jar* to contain them in, with what looks like a screw top lid (marked).  I think these are from the 60's/70's era.  The bottom is a brass holder.  It is about 10 inches tall.....and by the looks of the contents (clear fluid) - it appears that is it is quite old.  Any one Special made the jars for them, or did this company also make the glass, or just design (make) the items.

I hope this OK post -- as the item is still made of some glass, and a glass display object..... :spls:

Anyone know about these?

I thought it was a *bit different* type of Glass item -- but still Glass.  I think they were popular in the older days, as everyone had to have one as I DO remember these.

Thxs.

Me, Rose Bowl-O-Beauty -- do not think so.  Maybe the Toilet, LOO, Crapper errr, that Bowl of Beauty (you know what I mean)

;D :24:

But I have been rooting and did find this.  If you go by the Date on the bottom, the patent # is for 1974.  So it is 36 years old - those Flowers/glass/the item.

I did find this about the glass in the pdf listing there in.

Quoted from the above link:
As shown in FIG. 3, the container 10 is preferably composed of glass, although various transparent plastics, such as acrylics, may also be utilized. The container 10 is formed into any desired shape and preferably is formed into a somewhat spherical shape with a depending neck 10a which provides access to the interior of the container. Thread means 10b are provided along the outer surfaces of the neck 10a for mating with complementary thread means of a member sealing the interior of the container from ambient environment. The inner surface 10c of the neck 10a is flared outwardly from true perpendicular for ease in assembly of the display as will be explained hereinafter.

A closure member 18 is provided with an inner diameter for mating with the outer diameter of neck portion 10. Thread means 18b are provided along the inner upstanding walls of member 18 for mating with the thread means 10b of the neck 10a and for sealing the interior of the container 10 from ambient atmosphere. A waterproof liner plate 18a is provided along the upfacing surface of member 18 to insure that no leakage or the like takes place.

An outer base member 19 substantially encompasses the neck 10a, along with the closure member 18 so as to provide an esthetic unitary display mounting means 11.

So an interesting Display item using Glass...  ;)   Glass is Used for so many, various items.  What would we do without glass??
